Water Monster", also known as "Shui Guai" or "Water Monkey," is a Chinese fantasy horror film released in 2019. The movie is directed by Hesheng Xiang and Qiuliang Xiang, featuring a storyline that revolves around themes of revenge and superstition.
Shui Sheng, who, as a child, witnessed the brutal killing of his father by a creature known as the "water monkey." Ten years later, this malevolent entity resurfaces, leading to further tragedies, including the deaths of the heroine Xiang Lan's younger brother and father. In a bid to save her and confront the monster, Shui Sheng rallies the villagers to fight against the water monkey, challenging the feudal superstitions that have long plagued their community.
